The smell wafted into my red nose, cold from the harsh winter air. The scent warmed my body, numbing my fingers with pleasure. I could taste the flavor of the crepes on my tongue, filling every single taste bud with satisfaction. I walk over, following the scent that made my stomach growl. My steps feel heavy, a sound made as the sides of my pants collide together. My heavy rain boots leave footprints in the wet mud and puddles. I finally arrived at the destination of the smell. The shop was hidden in the corner of an alley. The shop had a clear glass window wall, displaying the mastery of the chefs. The crepes were being freshly made by a hardworking sous chef, desperate to prove himself to the world. The smell of the warm batter, proved to be familiar, just like the sweet scent of pancake batter that my mother and I would make together. The chocolate being spread on top, reminded me of the gooey smores we made while camping for my dad’s birthday. The fresh burst of strawberries added the very much needed crunch to the crepe. It felt like the time I had jumped into the fresh ocean clear water in the Maldives, the cold liquid rushing through every part of my body, it felt exhilarating. The chef handed me a crepe, in exchange for five dollars. It was interesting, how the item that made me feel so much joy, warmth, and happiness could only be sold for five dollars. the time I won first place at a tourney, and the time I got all A’s on my report card. But if you take all those special ingredients together, and blend them all in just the right way, taking a bite could feel like all those memories together plus so much more. There is so much that life has to offer, and it doesn’t always have to be special or big These simple moments, could sometimes be the ones that cause you joy and happiness
